LEIA’s first ever maintenance-themed contracts seminar, ‘Killer Clauses in Maintenance Contracts’ proved a big hit with its 48-strong industry audience. Developed and delivered by LEIA Contracts & Legal Committee members Neil Deighton (Stannah Lift Services) and Professor Rudi Klein (SEC Group), the interactive half-day seminar took delegates through the common pitfalls in maintenance contracts from both contract practitioner and legal perspectives.
The comprehensive content covered in the seminar included: getting into contract; scope and duration; liability/insurance; penalty regimes and benchmarking; termination. The morning was rounded off with an interactive workshop giving delegates the opportunity to work collaboratively and to test their contractual knowledge.
“A well-structured course that gave a good overview on some of the pitfalls of the contract world. I particularly liked the two-pronged delivery from the legal aspect and ‘real life’ [contracts practitioner] and felt that it was a good introduction for people new to the industry and a timely reminder for the old hands.”

The seminar took place on 13 November at the Hilton Northampton.
LEIA’s Seminar Series 2020 will be announced in the new year.
