LEIA is looking for Assessors and Internal Quality Assurers to work with the Association on End-Point Assessment (EPA) for the Lift/Escalator Electromechanic Level 3 Apprentice Standard.
The Association is looking for applicants who can:
> Comply with strict assessment requirements of a regulated EPA organisation
> Build a rapport with a learner quickly
> Adapt their assessment style to meet the requirements of EPA
In addition to accepting applicants from qualified assessors and IQAs LEIA is offering a limited number of bursaries to applicants who are not qualified in assessment, or quality assurance.
Applicants will be required to meet with the Head of EPA to discuss their suitability for receiving the bursary and their career plans to identify where assessment or quality assurance will align with their aspiration for the future.
Successful applicants will be supported through either the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA), or the Level 4 Awards in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice qualifications by an independent specialist training provider.
Independent End-point Assessors must hold:
> verifiable, relevant and sufficient technical competence demonstrated either by holding LV4 certificate in performing testing operations, a HNC or above in Lift engineering or by proven industrial experience (e.g. minimum of five years at a senior technical level)
> the assessor’s competence must, at the very least, be at the same level as that required of the learners in the subjects being assessed. Specific lift, escalator or moving walk industry experience gained in employment within the last 3 years or with industry experience and current knowledge evidenced by continued professional development.
> a relevant assessment qualification (or working towards one)
Internal Quality Assurers must hold:
> verifiable, relevant and sufficient technical competence demonstrated either by holding a relevant technical qualification or by proven industrial experience
> an IQA qualification
We will consider applicants for both roles who do not already possess an assessment qualification if they are committed to achieving one.
LEIA is scheduled to start delivering assessments in the Spring of 2022 and is seeking applicants for these roles now on a self-employed Associate basis. Initially the commitment required will be a few days a month, with the commitment growing as LEIA EPA works with more apprentices. Associates will be paid a set fee for each apprentice they assess.
Working as an end-point assessor or internal quality assurer for LEIA EPA is a flexible opportunity which would suit those recently retired from the sector, or consultants who wish to broaden their portfolio of experience. It’s also an excellent way to support new talent coming into the sector and ensure they start their careers with the very best occupational competence.
Bursary places are limit and will be awarded on the suitability of applicants, not on a first come first served basis. Applications are open until 30th September with qualification training to commence in November.
For more information and full terms and conditions of the bursary and the roles available please email epa@leia.co.uk
